Steinsdalsfossen is easily accessible from the main road and surrounded by beautiful Hardanger scenery. The waterfall is a perfect stop on any road trip through the region — whether you’re exploring fjords, fruit orchards, or the nearby Folgefonna glacier.

Fun fact: Steinsdalsfossen was formerly known as Øvsthusfossen. According to local historical sources, the river changed its course after a severe rainstorm in the late 19th century. This event gave the waterfall its present free-fall drop and the distinctive passage behind the cascade.

The highlight of this 50-meter waterfall is the unique footpath that runs behind the cascading water, where visitors can stay dry while the waterfall roars just in front of them. It’s a rare and memorable experience, enjoyed by both adults and children.
